How do you handle feeling triggered? Do you react when someone triggers you to feel agitated, inferior or disrespected?
Most of the time when we’re triggered, we shut down. We cross our arms over our chest and close our hearts. Maybe we pout or fight back. Maybe we become aggressive or diminish the other person. Or maybe we vent to a friend in order to feel justified in our anger, frustration or our hurt. When we’re triggered, it can feel like someone is taking a long pole and poking at our stored pain. It’s uncomfortable so we push back.
